SenseExplorers

Clinically grounded · pressure-free

We don't just work on senses. We work on the neurodivergence underneath them.

Paediatrician-led support for children and young people with sensory differences, exploring the autism, ADHD, PDA, dyspraxia, tic disorder, sensory processing and other neurodivergent conditions behind how they experience the world.

Created by Dr Susan Ozer, Consultant Neurodevelopmental Paediatrician with over 30 years' experience in clinical practice

SenseExplorers is a free, paediatrician-led app for parents and carers of children and teenagers aged 4 to 17 with sensory differences. Children look, listen, touch, sniff, taste, move and check in with their body, one small, pressure-free step at a time, then build a Sensory Passport to share with school or clinic. Junior mode is picture-based; Teen mode is more grown-up. No sound ever plays on its own.

SenseExplorers is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any medical condition. Always check with your child's doctor before making decisions about their health.

The demo opens the real app with sample data. No account needed, nothing is saved, and you choose what to do next when it ends after 1 minute.

The whole app is free. Create an account and get started in one tap.

What's inside

Small, calm tools that fit around family life and alongside your child's clinical team.

Eight ways to explore

Look, Listen, Touch, Sniff, Taste, Move, Push and Pull, Check-In. Each sense is explored one small step at a time, and nothing is rushed.

Photo Explorer and Sound Explorer

Built for how neurodivergent children learn, through play, control and curiosity. Children see and hear things before they meet them in real life, with no pressure. Ever.

Junior and Teen modes

A picture-based, read-aloud space for younger children, and a more grown-up space where teenagers can understand themselves and use strategies independently.

Useful strategies

Noise, clothes, smells, busy places, school and body signals: what to try, and when, in plain words.

My Calm Kit and Sensory Passport

The things that help, all in one place, and a profile you can hand to school and clinic.

Not difficult. Overwhelmed.

Your child is not choosing this. SenseExplorers works alongside your clinical team and gives your family a clear, gentle path on every day in between.

Worried about sensory processing difficulties?

Sensory processing differences often sit underneath eating, dressing, school and meltdown difficulties. Find out whether sensory processing is part of the picture with the free parent and educator screening.
