Terms & Conditions
The terms of using SenseExplorers
Written as plainly as possible, so parents and carers can see exactly what they are agreeing to.
About these terms
These terms apply to your use of SenseExplorers, a web app for children and young people with sensory processing differences and the families supporting them.
By creating an account or using the app you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
Not medical advice
SenseExplorers provides general educational information. It is not a medical device and it does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any medical condition.
Nothing in the app or in any contact with the expert is a substitute for professional advice, diagnosis or treatment. Never delay seeking professional advice, and never disregard advice you have already been given, because of something you read here.
If a child may be at risk, or is unwell, seek urgent care: call 999, NHS 111 or the child's GP.
Your account
Accounts are intended for adult parents and carers. Children use the child features with the support of a parent or carer.
Keep your login details private. You are responsible for activity on your account. Only a first name or nickname, an age band and what a child explores are stored for each child.
Payments and expert contact
Using SenseExplorers is free. There is no subscription, no membership fee and nothing to cancel.
Contact with Dr Susan Ozer is optional and paid for with a one-off fee: £15 for email contact, or £45 for a telephone call of up to 5 minutes. The price is always shown before you pay. Nothing renews automatically and no further payment is taken unless you book again.
Contact with the expert is brief general advice. It is not an assessment, diagnosis or emergency service and it does not replace the child's GP, paediatrician or local services.
Refunds and cancellations are described on the Refunds & Cancellations page.
Acceptable use
Do not use the app to pressure or shame a child. Exploring is the goal, not tolerating.
Photos are for scenery, places, objects and textures only. Do not take or upload photos of people, including your own child, other children or anyone else.
Do not upload anything inappropriate, upsetting, harmful or unlawful, whether a photo, a sound or written text. Content that breaks these rules may be removed.
Junior mode is designed for use with an adult nearby. Teen mode is designed for young people to use more independently, with their parent or carer checking in regularly.
Sound files may be uploaded to a child's calm kit by the account holder. Only upload a recording you created or otherwise have the right to use, and only one that the child is happy to hear. Do not upload music or audio you do not have permission to use.
Do not attempt to break, overload or gain unauthorised access to the app or another family's account.
Intellectual property
All content in SenseExplorers, including activity wording, images, sounds, parent tips and the sensory passport format, belongs to the app owner and is used under licence where applicable.
You may use it for your own family's personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy, resell or redistribute the content.
Anything you upload, such as photos and sound recordings, stays yours. We store it only so your family can see or hear it, and we do not use it for anything else.
Limitation of liability
The app is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, the app owner is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the app or from reliance on general information in it.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. Your statutory rights are unaffected.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute will be handled by the courts of England and Wales.
